ZF Foxconn Chassis Modules to expand capacity in Malaysia

Not many Malaysians may be aware that global automotive supplier ZF Foxconn Chassis Modules (ZFFCN) has been operating in Malaysia since 2012. The company, a 50-50 joint venture between ZF Friedrichshafen AG and Foxconn (Hon Hai Technology Group), has two factories – one in Pekan, Pahang and the other in Kulim, Kedah.

The two factories supply axle sets to BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche for their locally-assembled models. The output of axle sets in Malaysia has contributed to a total of 40 million axle sets globally produced by the company since 1994.

The Malaysian operations are poised for growth through organic market increase of its current customer base and through catering to requirements of newer brands. With the growing market, ZFFCN is actively working on expanding plant capacity while also developing local talent.

ZFFCN expects to double its annual sales by 2029. Contrary to the situational
decline in the global automotive market, the company is benefiting from a strong order
intake of leading global automakers.
