Volkswagen forced to stop production in Portugal

It’s not only Toyota that has had to stop production but across the world, Volkswagen also has to suspend production of its current bestselling model in Europe, the T-Roc.

While it is not its own factory in Portugal assembling the small crossover that has problems, a supplier of certain engine parts in Slovenia has to shut down operations due to severe floods in the country.

Just one part short stops completion
As other carmakers have experienced, not being supplied just one part means the vehicle cannot be completed. This was the case with microprocessors which were in short supply over the past few years.

While Volkswagen hopes to find another company to supply the part, the factory in Slovenia does not expect to be able to resume production till October. Other carmakers in Europe may also be affected by the same situation.
