Following its public unveiling on August 15, the upgraded Proton X70 has also been launched in East Malaysia. This is the first time that the Malaysian automaker has held a separate launch for its SUV model specifically for customers in Sabah and Sarawak, reflecting the importance of the two markets.
RM2,000 price difference
The four versions available are priced between RM100,800 and RM128,800 (without insurance), which is RM2,000 more than the prices in Peninsular Malaysia due to shipping costs. Prices are lower in Labuan as the island is a duty-free zone.
‘Early bird’ rewards
The improvements and upgrades alone have a combined value of RM13,700, but Proton is not raising the SUV’s price. For the first 3,000 new X70 customers, Proton is offering up to RM23,500 worth of added value at no extra cost.
Besides the standard 5-year/unlimited mileage warranty and 5-year data package (1GB/month as well as 6 free labour services, the first 3,000 customers can also get a rebate of RM7,000 and trade-in support of RM2,800, as well as an upgrade if they take the Proton Insurance package.
Faster parts supply
To address previous concerns about parts availability in East Malaysia, Proton has made substantial investments in its parts network by opening two new Regional Parts Centres (RPC) in East Malaysia—one in Kuching in February 2023 and another in Kota Kinabalu, opened earlier this.
These RPCs will significantly boost the parts managing capability, ensuring that Proton service centres and parts stockists get Proton Genuine Parts faster, benefitting the owners in Sabah and Sarawak.
