Following its launch in November 2023, smart has continued to grow its presence in the Malaysian market. There are now over 200 of the fully electric #1 (aka hashtag 1) SUVs on the road and the company is making sure that the ownership experience is the best possible.
Hello smart App enhanced
Even before the launch, smart Malaysia already introduced the Hello smart app to provide an exclusive channel of communication between the public and the brand. For example, there is a streamlined loan application process which makes it easier to take the first step towards becoming an EV owner.
It then became an app for the new owners as it was designed with them in mind and to make their ownership experience more convenient. One of the notable features of the Hello smart App is the map which shows charging points in the country. It currently shows over 70% of the charging stations with new ones added periodically. This helps owners to plan trips beyond their locality so they know where along their journey they can recharge the #1.
Update for app
The app is now updated to facilitate debit or credit card payments, allowing owners to pay and charge their EVs or purchase in-car internet data directly through the app. The internet data prices are at 1GB for RM8, 3GB for RM21, and 5GB for RM30.

RM3,200 gift for buyers this month
With the Chinese New Year of the Dragon round the corner, those who are considering a smart #1 can get a special and very useful gift from smart Malaysia when they purchase the EV. It’s the smartCharge Home Charger worth RM3,200 and it comes with charging credits as well. The offer is for purchases made by January 31, 2024.
There are three variants of the #1 – Pro, Premium, or BRABUS – and whichever one is chosen, selected banks collaborating with smart Malaysia are offering financing packages with low interest rates, starting from 1.15% per annum.
Every new smart EV comes with a 4-year vehicle warranty (no limit on mileage), 8 year/200,000 km warranty on the battery pack and 8-year/150,000 km warranty on high voltage components. There is also a 2-year/unlimited mileage warranty on spare parts. For peace of mind, 24/7 roadside assistance is provided.
