UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) started off the second half of 2023 with July deliveries totalling 8,349 vehicles (of which 194 units were of the Lexus brand). Added to the cumulative volume for the first half of the year, the total volume after 7 months has passed the 50,000-unit level to reach 57,008 units.
The July sales volume represented a 25.8% increase over the same month in 2022, while the cumulative volume for January to July was 8.5% higher.
Enhancing sales and service network
With growing numbers of Toyota and Lexus owners nationwide, UMWT has also ensured that the sales and aftersales network continues to be expanded. For instance, during July, Armada KK Automobile in Penampang, Sabah, was upgraded from just a showroom to a full-fledged 3S centre.
The outlet, which has been an authorised Toyota dealership since 2005, can now provide customers and owners with a full range of services at one site. It serves not only the community in Penampang but also the surrounding areas of Kota Kinabalu.
In Peninsular Malaysia, E.S. Yang Motor – an authorised Toyota dealer in Muar, Johor since 1994 – consolidated its showroom, service centre and Body & Paint centre (which were in separate locations) to one 4S outlet. This makes it more convenient for customers as everything they need is at one spot.
Besides 14 bays in the service centre, the integrated Body & Paint facility (below) has 20 bays for vehicles that require professional repair or refinishing services which meet Toyota’s high standards.
“The continued growth in our sales numbers is a testament to the appeal of Toyota cars to buyers who value performance and reliability. To further expand the experience of driving a Toyota to more consumers, we are pleased to make Toyota ownership more accessible than ever with the growth of our sales and service centres, as well as our Extra Mile services together with monthly promotions that make it easier to purchase and own a Toyota,” said Datuk Ravindran K., President of UMW Toyota Motor.
TOYOTA GR GT Cup Malaysia
During July, the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (GR) GT Cup Malaysia online racing series was also launched. This used to be known as the GR Velocity Esports Championship which has been one of the most lucrative online racing events in the country. For this year’s sixth season, there will be up to RM90,500 in cash prizes – the highest ever in GR GT Cup Malaysia history.
UMWT remains the only car manufacturer and brand to be involved in e-racing. This year, it also brought the simulator racing experience to universities across Malaysia.
“As a leading car manufacturer and brand, the launch of the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (GR) GT Cup Malaysia online racing series further extends Toyota’s mission to contribute towards motorsports development in Malaysia, by encouraging greater participation of youths and bringing motorsports to the masses,” Datuk Ravindran added.
