UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) continued its strong performance in August 2024 with a total sales volume of 8,500 units (inclusive of Lexus models). The cumulative sales volume after 8 months has reached 64,347 units, which represents around a market share of around 12%.
UMWT’s dominance in the pick-up truck segment began in 2005 and continues to this day. In August, the Toyota Hilux accounted for 55% of truck sales while the total sales volume of the model from January to August is 35% of the commercial vehicle segment.
The top three models for the Toyota brand in August were the Vios, Hilux and Corolla Cross, giving UMWT a strong presence in the sedan, pick-up truck and SUV categories. With the Corolla Cross, customers also have the choice of an electrified powertrain which offers greater fuel efficiency.
The company expects the sales momentum to continue with the introduction of enhanced versions of the Hilux, Fortuner, and GR86.
