In its final year before becoming part of Sime Darby Motors, UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) ended 2023 on a high note. This strong performance was expected since sales of its Toyota and Lexus brands had seen consistent growth throughout the year.
For the final month of 2023, the total number of deliveries was 10,402 units, including 323 units of Lexus vehicles. This volume took the total sales for the year to 108,107 units, a 7% increase over the 101,035 units recorded for 2022.

He added that, during the year, authorised service outlets recorded a total of 1,342,130 returning customers, reflecting a high level of customer satisfaction and efficiency in aftersales services.
“We’ve always prioritised maintaining the highest standards and quality in our vehicles, coupled with reinforcing customer satisfaction,” said Datuk Ravindran.
Toyota Eco Youth programme
During December, the ongoing Toyota Eco Youth (TEY) programme gained momentum as it neared its conclusion. In conjunction with the 2023-2024 programme, Datuk Ravindran and his team visited SMK Dato’ Mohd Said in Nilai, a participating school excelling in its environmental project.
The TEY programme, which has been run annually by UMWT in collaboration with the Ministry of Education since 2001, involves secondary schools with students and teachers undertaking projects that address specific environmental concerns within their communities. It is aimed at educating Malaysian youth on the importance of conserving the environment and also inspire them to act responsibly towards the environment, ensuring a sustainable future.
The current edition sees the participation of 15 schools nationwide. Participants have been equipped with the Toyota 8 Steps Problem-Solving Methodology and a RM3,000 grant is provide help the teams kick-start their initiatives and encourage creative problem-solving. The conclusion of the programme will take place with a closing ceremony towards the end of this month, with cash prizes given for the best projects.
Emphasising commitment to the nation through community-oriented initiatives such as the TEY programme, Datuk Ravindran said: “Here, we hope to inspire problem-solving efforts and contribution to a better future within the community, especially among our youth, embodying the spirit of Malaysia Madani. Through TEY, we want to empower the youth to be not just spectators but active contributors to a sustainable and innovative Malaysia.”
