Continuing with setting up its network of Superchargers along the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia, Tesla has announced the availability of its fourth EV charging station at the Freeport A’Famosa Outlet in the state of Melaka.
This charging station, engineered by Tesla, consists of four V3 Superchargers and one Destination Charger. The V3 Superchargers have DC supply with a peak efficiency of 250 kW, making it possible to ‘fill’ the battery pack of a Model 3 with up to 282 kms of range within 15 minutes.
The Destination Charger is a Level 2 charger with AC power supply. This has a slower charging rate of about 70 kms – 120 kms range per hour (depending on power supply) of recharging, so it would be suitable for those who are going to spend a longer period in the location. For Tesla owners, use of the Destination Charger is free.
The carpark at the Freeport A’Famosa Outlet is open 24 hours and parking is free. Use of the Supercharger will be at a rate of RM1.25 per kWh. There is an idle fee of up to RM4/minute when the Supercharging station is 100% occupied.
Tesla’s Supercharger network will eventually total 20 stations in Malaysia. The company is also offering its Wall Connector for customers who wish to have their own charging facility at their home or office.
