Shell FuelSave 95 Challenge 2023

Good fuel quality means that your car or motorcycle will have good fuel consumption, but how good depends on many factors such as driving conditions, your driving style and the condition of the engine too. Claims by carmakers are typically based on specific test conditions and you may get less or more, depending on your own conditions.

With Shell’s New + Improved Shell FuelSave 95 which was launched in February, there is the claim that if you have been using the fuel regularly before, then you can get another 15 kms of range per tankful (not per litre). The new formulation is the result of 5 years of extensive research and tests conducted by 150 fuel scientists across the globe.

Besides the extra range, the new FuelSave 95 is also said to provide deeper clean for a cleaner engine with its deposit-targeting technology, offer better protection against corrosion and deposit-build-up, and is suitable for older engines as well as the latest ones in hybrid powertrains. And it costs no more than what the government-subsidised rate is, which is RM2.05 a litre at this time.

The fuel-savings have been confirmed by motorists around the country during the Shell FuelSave 95 Challenge 2023. Today, the motorists with the highest scores in 5 regions met at the Shell SM Alisha station in Shah Alam, Selangor, to see who would be the best of the best. The drove through Cyberjaya – Bukit Jalil – Cheras – Ampang – Gombak – Sri Hartamas – Kota Damansara – Puncak Alam and returned to the starting point, a total of some 121 kms.

The winner was 26-year old Chin Li Qin from Johor who even broke his previous record of 25.45 kms/litre by recording 28.23 kms/litre. Chin’s rivals were Jeffrey Tan Teck Seng from Port Dickson, Ahmad Amirul Runass from Kuantan, Muhammad Jazli Mahathir from Ipoh, and Lai Siaw Feng from Kuching.
