Sharp to unveil EV concept developed with Foxconn

At the SHARP Tech-Day’24 Innovation Showcase in Tokyo later this month, Sharp Corporation will unveil a concept model of an electric vehicle. To be known as the LDK+, the EV was planned and developed in collaboration with China’s Hon Hai Technology Group (better known as Foxconn) as well as Folofly Corporation (a Japanese EV and smart infrastructure services company).

EV open platform
The LDK+, based on an EV open platform, utilizes Sharp’s proprietary AI technology, AIoT technology, sensing technology and other technologies to ‘connect EVs with living spaces, people and energy’’. The concept views the interior of the vehicle as an ‘extended living room’ and focuses on the time the vehicle is stationary.

In the spacious cabin, the rear seats rotate backwards. When the door closes, the liquid crystal shutters on both side windows close, creating a private space. Based on the information that AI learns from home appliances in daily life, it automatically adjusts the air conditioning and brightness according to the occupants’ preferences, creating a comfortable interior space.

Space for work or play
The rear of the vehicle is equipped with a 65V display. It can be used not only as an immersive theatre room or a children’s play area, as well as for remote work. The large screen allows seamless communication with family members at home, providing a safe and convenient space as if they were in the next room.

Auxiliary power supply for home
The storage battery and solar panels provide energy and can be connected to the home, where AI will realize optimal total energy management for the home and EV. In the event of a power outage caused by a disaster, the electricity stored in the battery can be used within the home.
