E-hailing is a recent public transport service which has grown rapidly as it has been well received by the public. It has also given many people job opportunities and a chance to earn additional income in these financially challenging times.
The main ‘tool’ of e-hailing drivers is, of course, their car. Therefore, it must be reliable and economical to run and affordable enough to purchase. The Proton Saga has proven such qualities so it is ideal for such users.
Recently, Proton signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Grab Malaysia, the leading e-hailing operator, to enhance vehicle options for e-hailing drivers. They will be provided with exclusive perks when they purchase a new Saga for their work.
“This partnership reflects our commitment to providing Malaysians with flexible opportunities in an evolving economy. By making it easier to access earning opportunities, we support our partners who play a vital role in meeting the everyday needs of the community. In addition to Proton’s package, Grab is offering up toRM500 for new driver-partners who purchase a Proton Saga and activate their Grab Driver account. As we see an increase in demand for rides, we continuously work to increase and optimise our active driver supply to meet this need. This initiative encourages more people to benefit from the opportunities the digital economy offers,” said Rashid Shukor, Director of Country Operations and Mobility, Grab Malaysia.
Elevating Proton’s image
This collaboration seeks to support the growing needs of the e-hailing industry. With the first agreement, Proton aims to elevate its image in the e-hailing industry via the partnership with Grab Malaysia.
Proton recognises the significant potential in the e-hailing industry for entry-level models like the Saga where its reliability and affordability make it an attractive choice for drivers. Since 1985, the Saga – Malaysia’s first National Car – has come a long way in serving the nation by providing mobility for generations of Malaysians.
Over the years, Its durability and safety features – crucial points for e-hailing drivers – have increased. Today’s Saga comes with active safety systems such as ABS, electronic brakeforce distribution and traction control. Additionally, there are front and rear parking sensors, an adjustable steering column and a touchscreen for added convenience.
‘Saga Power Up for Grab Drivers’ campaign
Starting from November 4, the ‘Saga Power Up for Grab Drivers’ campaign will offer Grab driver-partners with priority access to owning a new Saga. The campaign includes incentives and exclusive deals such as cash rebates and a 5% service discount valid for the first 2 years (or up to 40,000 kms). During this campaign, there is no limit to the number of Sagas a qualified driver can purchase, provided they meet Grab Malaysia’s requirements.
“Proton is thrilled to collaborate with Grab Malaysia to support the e-hailing industry by offering our iconic model, the Proton Saga, to Grab driver-partners. Its reliability and affordable maintenance costs are important factors for entrepreneurs who use cars as their primary working tools. Additionally, the partnership provides those who take up the offer with exclusive benefits while also supporting our vision to more accessible transportation for Malaysians,” said Roslan Abdullah, Deputy CEO of Proton.
