The Proton e.MAS 7 – the Malaysian automaker’s first production EV – has completed the first leg of its nationwide tour, covering a total of 894 kms entirely on electric power.
After starting from Proton’s Centre of Excellence head office complex in Selangor on October 5, the e.MAS 7 convoy journeyed to the southern states of Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor.
Various stops were chosen to give the public a chance to get a closer look at the EV. In spite of the weather – very hot at times and also very wet at others – large crowds turned up to see the EV, recalling the same scenes of the first Malaysian National Car – the Saga – when it was shown around the country.
The e.MAS 7 Tour also received strong community engagement at popular local eateries with many people taking part in fun and interactive games.
At the 4 new dealer showrooms in Melaka and Johor, over a thousand people were present to gain firsthand insights into key features of the EV which will be launched before the end of 2024.
“The e.MAS 7 Tour has not only showcased our new EV’s capabilities and features but also enhanced our interaction with local communities. The positive feedback we received from the public on the car’s spaciousness and stylish design language – even while camouflaged – underscores the potential of e.MAS 7 to set new standards in the EV market,” said Zhang Qiang, Chief Executive Officer of PRO-NET, Proton’s New Energy Vehicle subsidiary.
The next leg sees the e.MAS 7 Tour going north with the following itinerary:
- 11 October – Perak and Penang
- 12 October – Penang
- 13 October – Kedah and Perlis
- 14 October – Perlis
