Proton today revealed the prices of its first production fully electric vehicle – the e.MAS 7. Two versions will be available: the e.MAS 7 Prime and e.MAS 7 Premium which will have estimated prices from RM120,000. Bookings are now accepted at Proton e.MAS dealerships nationwide.
For the Pioneer Buyers who make their bookings before the launch (which will be before the end of 2024), there are rewards such as a gift valued at RM1,000 and RM500 rebate.
The two versions of the e.MAS 7 are largely the same with the Premium having additional features and equipment although the ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) packages are identical for both. Only the front radar is not present in the e.MAS 7 Prime.
The powertrain is also identical in both versions with the 12-in-1 Electric Drive System which has a single front-mounted motor generating 160 kW (217.5 ps)/320 Nm to give an acceleration capability of 6.9 seconds to 100 km/h and a top speed of 175 km/h.
Both versions use the Aegis Short Blade Battery been developed in-house by the Geely Group. The battery pack is one of the most advanced ones in the industry currently and is expected to be a game-changer for EVs. This is because it has a cycle life of up to 921 full recharge times, which is equivalent to driving 400,000 kms with minimal impact on range.
The Prime version has a battery with 49.52 kWh capacity, while the Premium’s battery capacity is 60.22 kWh, giving ranges of 345/410 kms and 410/470 kms, respectively. Charging time from 30% to 80% with a DC supply up to 100 kW is 20 minutes, and 4.9 hours with AC charging (6.1 hours for Premium version).
Customers can choose from a range of 5 different exterior colours. Indigo Blue is, however, not presently in the range and is for the interior colour only, but our friend Theottle decided to see how the SUV would look with the colour. If you like it too, let Proton know!
Owners of the Proton EV will also find the new e.MAS App a useful complement as it will provide a lot of functionality right from the time they want to find out about the SUV through to booking one and then when they own the e.MAS 7. Like the Hello smart app for the smart EVs, this app also shows a large number of charging station locations nationwide and their status (so you don’t go to one and find it occupied or not working).
While the EVs running around have so far been covered with camouflage wrap, the general form of the SUV is clear to see. Today, Proton has opened the doors to show what the inside is like and these are the first pictures of the righthand drive version for Malaysia. From now on, the public will also be able to see the inside of the e.MAS 7 wherever it is displayed.
