Price range of smart #1 to start from RM200,000

We have seen much of the smart #1 over the course of this year as PRO-NET (smart Malaysia) has been preparing the market for its launch. But the big question mark has been how much the electric car imported from China will cost.

Today, the company has given a clear indication with its announcement that the price range will be from RM200,000 to RM250,000 (excluding insurance). Being a fully electric vehicle, it can be imported and sold throughout the country without import duties imposed (but buyers still have to pay Sales & Service Tax).

The motor generates an output of 200 kW/343 Nm and the range should be up to 440 kms.

The more powerful BRABUS version has a sportier appearance. It has a claimed 0-100 km/h time of 3.9 seconds with two motors producing a total of 315 kW/543 Nm which goes to all four wheels. Even with this high performance, the range is claimed to be up to 400 kms.
