A car, whether old or new, requires periodic servicing to maintain its performance and running efficiency. Parts also need to be replaced at certain intervals as they wear out. If not changed, then the performance will drop and fuel consumption can worsen. In the worst cases, the part might fail or break and there could be an accident.
This periodic maintenance is an essential part of car ownership and adds to the running costs, besides such things as roadtax, insurance and fuel. Manufacturers try to keep running costs low but you still cannot escape from having to spend money on maintenance (unless you don’t care about your car’s condition).
Perodua has an offer which can help owners save money on servicing with special discounts on standard service intervals and spare parts during specific years. This is a program known as Perodua PRESERV which is offered only until August 31 , 2023, and only available from specific Perodua outlets.
Prepaid service plan
Perodua PRESERV is a prepaid service plan and available for the following models with automatic transmission/CVT: Axia, Ativa, Alza, Aruz, Bezza and Myvi.
Owners can have two options – maintenance over 3 years/60,000 kms or 5 years/100,000 kms, following the schedule for periodic maintenance. The chart below shows the prices for different models and how much can be saved.
Two ways to get PRESERV
For those who have not finalised their purchase yet, the cost of the PRESERV plan can be included in the H-P loan, so it becomes part of the instalments being paid each month. Those who already have the vehicle can also obtain the PRESERV plan but they must do so at their first (1,000 kms) or second service (10,000 kms).
The other advantage of taking this plan is that you also ‘lock in’ the costs which could increase over time. You have already paid for the services and parts in advance and an authorised Perodua service centre will provide them in future at the scheduled intervals without you having to make payments.
This is likely to be a pilot program being run by the carmaker to see what the response is like. If people like the idea and it gets a good response, then Perodua may start to make it another option for customers when they buy a new vehicle.
