October was a record month for UMW Toyota Motor

With 10,709 units of Toyota vehicles and 222 units for Lexus vehicles – a total of 10,931 units – delivered during the month of October 2023, UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) achieved its highest ever monthly sales for the last 5 years.

The latest deliveries take cumulative sales for 2023 to 87,422 units after 10 months, a 9.1% increase over the same period in 2022.

The diverse model range has contributed to the growing sales numbers, with the latest Toyota Alphard and Vellfire having been added last month.

“In an ever-evolving automotive landscape, the Toyota Alphard and Vellfire stand as beacons of innovation and sophistication. They set new standards for luxury and performance in the MPV segment, reflecting our commitment to delivering exceptional vehicles that exceed expectations,” said the President of UMW Toyota Motor, Datuk Ravindran K.

Having a popular line-up means that supply must also be able to meet demand. In this respect, the continuous enhancements at both the Bukit Raja and Shah Alam manufacturing complexes in Selangor have increased output with more streamlined and efficient operations.

“Additionally, the integration of advanced technologies and sustainable practices at both facilities highlights their dedication to responsible and efficient production methods, setting a new standard for the automotive industry,” said Datuk Ravindran.

Green initiatives
To support environmental conservation, UMW is actively participating in the UMW Green Shoots Initiative at the Kubang Badak Mangrove Reserve in Langkawi.

This initiative is in alignment with the National 100-million Tree-Planting Campaign 2020-2050, under the theme ‘Green Malaysia. Our Trees. Our Life.’ With a goal of planting 300,000 trees by 2023, symbolising the average total number of vehicles sold annually, UMW’s efforts contribute to Toyota’s broader commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, effectively mitigating CO2 emissions.

By the end of 2023, UMWT expects to have planted 12,000 trees, with a special emphasis on mangrove trees, recognised for their exceptional environmental benefits. This initiative represents a significant stride towards a greener future.
