These days, almost everyone has a smartphone and while not everyone may own a car, those who do also use their smartphone for a number of functions or services relating to motoring. So it only makes sense that car companies will develop an app for smartphones which enhance the experience of ownership for their customers as well as allows them to stay in touch.
UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) began offering such an app, known as Toyota Drive, in February 2017 and since then, thousands of Toyota owners have conveniently been able to schedule service appointments, locate nearest Toyota outlets, and stay-up to date with the latest deals – all through their smartphone.
But technology constantly improves and adhering to Toyota’s philosophy of kaizen – Japanese for ‘constant improvement’ – the original Toyota Drive app has now been upgraded with the introduction of the new Toyota MY app. This new app integrates the features of the Toyota Drive and Toyota 24Seven apps onto a single, easy-to-use platform.
“Toyota’s practice of ‘kaizen’ not only relates to the design and manufacturing of vehicles but also to our customer experience and touchpoints,” explained Datuk Ravindran K., President of UMW Toyota Motor.
“By simplifying vehicle management, the Toyota MY app enables us to offer an even more efficient ownership experience and allows owners to enjoy their vehicles more, aligning perfectly with our commitment to customer satisfaction. It represents a significant step towards the future of how we deliver services to our valued customers, and we’re excited to further develop the potential it holds for new innovations and enhancements,” he said.
The Toyota MY app flawlessly integrates functionalities from previous Toyota apps, enabling Toyota owners to conveniently access information about their vehicles, schedule service appointments, view their Loyal-T membership points, request 24Seven roadside assistance, locate nearby Toyota outlets and much more. This contributes to providing a hassle-free and efficient ownership experience.
In addition to its practical features, the app also serves as a source for the latest Toyota news and promotions. It will be UMWT’s primary digital platform for introducing new innovations and enhancements. Following the introduction of the Toyota MY app, both the Toyota Drive and Toyota 24Seven apps will be phased out.
Like many apps, the existing Toyota Drive app just needs to be updated to switch to the new Toyota MY app. However, as it is a personalised app, it requires logging in with the current registered e-mail address. For new Toyota owners, providing their contact details to the outlet they prefer will facilitate account creation.
The new Toyota MY app is now available at no charge from the AppleApp Store or Google Play Store. To know more about Toyota products and services in Malaysia, visit www.toyota.com.my.
