Naza Eastern Motors Sdn Bhd (NEM) has added the Rhino edition to its Suzuki Jimny range. The launch of the Jimny two years was at an unfortunate time when the pandemic was still on, and activities were limited. Now with the new Rhino edition, the company hopes to invigorate the market’s interest in Suzuki’s iconic small SUV.
Priced at RM174,900 (excluding insurance), the Jimny Rhino edition is available in only in Pure Pearl White. The Rhino logomark pays homage to the heritage of the Suzuki SJ series, which first appeared 41 years ago. Additionally, there are red, gray and black decals running on the bonnet and sides with the words ‘Real Offroader’ and a rhino graphic.
Nostalgic features
Nostalgic features include the Suzuki Heritage grille that matches the chrome side mirrors, together with the side and front bumper under garnish. Other nostalgic features are the red mud flaps with white ‘Jimny’ lettering, and the rear spare tyre cover also has the Rhino logo. The front and rear differential guards as well as the rain and wind deflectors are installed as further protection from the weather.
1.5-litre engine, 4×4
The Rhino edition has similar technical specifications as the standard Jimny imported by NEM. It is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine with variable vavle timing and multi-point injection. The power output of 100 ps/130 Nm goes to the wheels through a 4-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case that enables 4×4 (Allgrip Pro) or 4×2. The Allgrip Pro system is operated by a short lever, just like in the original Jimny SJ.
