When considering a car from a new brand in the market, one of the considerations is the aftersales service that will be available. Some companies may start with only a small number of outlets in areas with a high population. Others will appoint dealers or open branches as quickly as they can so that they cover a large area of the country.
SAIC Motor Malaysia, which handles the MG Motor brand, is one of the newcomers which entered the Malaysian market in the past 12 months. Following the launch of the brand in March this year, the company has been building up its dealer network with the aim of having at least one outlet in every state, including East Malaysia.
To date, there are 14 showrooms and 8 service centres with 6 more outlets (5 sales, 1 service) to open in the near future. By the end of 2025, SAIC Motor Malaysia expects to have outlets in 35 locations in Malaysia.
“With the expansion of our dealer network, we are poised to enhance accessibility to our latest models, ensuring that more Malaysians can experience the quality and innovation that MG stands for,” said Steven Du, Managing Director of SAIC Motor Malaysia.
The MG range for the Malaysian market started with the MG4 and ZS fully electric models. These will be joined soon by the MG5 and HS which were previewed recently. Also in the pipeline is the Cyberster roadster which has a fully electric drivetrain.
