In conjunction with the global debut of the new Mercedes-Benz G580 with EQ Technology, Mattel has also released a Matchbox version of the fully electric SUV in 1:64 scale. More than just another typically detailed die-cast model, the G580 is made with 99.5% recycled metal and a minimum of 81% ISCC-certified plastic, highlighting how Matchbox is evolving its product offerings.
With true-to-life details that embody the spirit of the iconic G-Class, the Matchbox model is finished in the same South Seas Blue Magno by MANUFAKTUR, the personalisation division of Mercedes-Benz. The colour, along with a black interior, is used for the First Edition G580 which also has premium materials for an authentic feel.
It comes in a one-of-a-kind packaging with textured paper and a base that attaches to the lid for a unique home display for car enthusiasts and collectors to enjoy.

The Matchbox Mercedes-Benz G580 expands upon Matchbox’s ‘Driving Toward a Better Future’ campaign, introduced in 2022. This initiative champions greener play experiences by integrating electric vehicles in its product range, aligning with its goal to achieve 100% recycled, recyclable, or bio-based plastics in both toys and packaging by 2030.
Later in the year, the model will also be available in Matchbox’s Moving Parts Series which features a MANUFAKTUR classic grey non-metallic and movable doors that provide added authenticity, realism, and drive story-telling. All Moving Parts vehicles are made using recycled metal and a minimum of 51% ISCC-certified plastic.
The Matchbox Mercedes-Benz electric G-Class premium version will be available in limited quantities exclusively at MattelCreations.com for US$29.99 (about RM143).
