MAA does not expect significant impact on new vehicle sales

The Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) does not expect the recent removal of diesel subsidies/increase in pump prices to significantly impact the total volume of new vehicle sales for 2024 which it forecast to be 740,000 units. Of this number, 74,000 units are expected to be in the commercial vehicle segment (which includes pick-up trucks).

The association expects that purchasers will give some extra thought initially, but will eventually go ahead and purchase a diesel vehicle anyway as it would be essential for their business operations.
