The KL International Motor Show (KLIMS), which has a history dating back to the 1970s, will make a return after an absence of 6 years. To reflect the new era in the industry, it has been renamed as Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (still KLIMS), encompassing a broader spectrum of auto-related exhibits and activities.

Organised by the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA), KLIMS 2024 is themed ‘Beyond Mobility’, highlighting the key trends shaping the future of the automotive industry. With some 70 exhibitors participating, the event will present the latest vehicles with various types of drivetrains, eco-friendly mobility solutions, and advanced technologies from leading automotive brands and other services companies.

As in 2018, it will be held on two levels of the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) at Jalan Dutamas 2 in Kuala Lumpur from December 5 – 11. For those not familiar with this exhibition centre, it’s near the government office complex off Jalan Tuanku Abdul Halim (formerly Jalan Duta).

KLIMS 2024 has support from industry groups such as the Malaysia Automotive Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii), the Automotive Federation Malaysia (AFM), the Motorcycle and Scooter Assemblers and Distributors Association of Malaysia (MASAAM), and the Malaysian Automotive Component Parts Manufacturers Association (MACPMA).It is also endorsed by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE).

“KLIMS 2024 serves as a crucial platform for the automotive industry to showcase its latest advancements, providing insight into transformative trends such as electric vehicles and eco-friendly mobility solutions. With the Malaysian government’s ongoing commitment to sustainable and innovative mobility solutions, including incentives for EV adoption and policies supporting green technology, we see an exciting trajectory for our automotive sector,” said Mohd Shamsor bin Mohd Zain, President of the MAA.

“This year’s theme, ‘Beyond Mobility,’ aligns with Malaysia’s push towards electrification and smart infrastructure, positioning the country to be at the forefront of Southeast Asia’s automotive advancements. As we enter this new era, KLIMS 2024 will highlight innovations across the industry, encouraging stakeholders, from manufacturers to consumers, to embrace technologies that drive environmental responsibility and efficiency. We are thrilled to celebrate this 10th edition of KLIMS, which underscores Malaysia’s potential as a regional leader in the future of mobility,” he said.

Past KLIMS events have seen new models being unveiled and KLIMS 2024 will be no different. At the last show in 2018, the Mitsubishi Triton made its debut in Malaysia while Proton gave the public its first look at its first SUV, the X70.

Besides the many new vehicle displays (some of which will be making their debut in Malaysia), there will be a collection of rare models, classic car showcase and die-cast car showcase and gathering. In partnership with R&D F1 Simulation, there will be a display of 4 iconic Ferrari F1 cars. May car clubs from across Malaysia will also converge at the show, offering a unique chance to connect with like-minded car-lovers.

Throughout the event, there will be contests and lucky draws with lots of prizes to be won. This will include a social media photography contest. Two cars are offered as lucky draw prizes for visitors to KLIMS 2024 – a Toyota Yaris 1.5G Limited in Platinum White Pearl with a 2-tone colour scheme and a Perodua AXIA in Lava Red.

The 7-day event will be on from 10 am to 8 pm on weekdays and 10 am – 10 pm on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and December 11, the last day. Ticket prices are shown on the chart below:
