Isuzu Malaysia provides additional D-MAX trucks for Borneo Safari

The Borneo Safari is an event which only those with the most capable off-road vehicles participate in. This year will see the 31st edition being run and it is still acknowledged to be one of the most difficult off-road challenges.

A familiar vehicle in the event for the past 15 years has been the Isuzu D-MAX, a pick-up truck that is versatile and capable with what it takes to survive the Borneo Safari. Continuing as Diamond Sponsor of the event, Isuzu Malaysia will provide 3 units of the D-MAX X-Terrain as the official media vehicles plus an additional 2 units of the two units of the 1.9-litre D-MAX Single Cab.

According to the CEO of Isuzu Malaysia, Shunsuke Okazoe, the Single Cab variant will play a supporting role in the event. “To conquer events such as the Borneo Safari where unforgiving jungle tracks not only require a vehicle to feature a well-designed 4×4 system, they also need to be engineered to the highest level of dependability in order to successfully emerge from the 8-day event unscathed,” he explained.

For such a mission, the D-MAX Single Cab has the immense capability as a proven workhorse. When it comes to hard-working, capable and dependable 1-ton trucks, few can match this Isuzu. Offering an extremely wide range of uses – from negotiating narrow urban streets for goods deliveries to moving heavy loads deep into and out of rugged plantations, the D-MAX single Cab has what it takes to perform flawlessly.

As the only manufacturer in Malaysia to offer 2 engine options in the Single Cab, Isuzu brings a level of value to its customers by meeting their individual requirements. Couple this with a competent 4×4  drive system that includes a differential lock as standard and the vehicle can go just about anywhere.

This year’s Borneo Safari begins in front of the Sabah Tourism Board office in Kota Kinabalu on Sunday, October 29, 2023 and will run through the mountainous Sook and Ranau regions before returning to the state’s capital city a week later.

Isuzu Malaysia will once again be in partnership with Tourism Malaysia, the Sabah Tourism Board and Red Springs Sdn Bhd to produce a web video series promoting the event in particular and Sabah in general as an adventure destination. Through this video series, viewers will witness the various challenges of the Borneo Safari and have an opportunity to win exclusive event merchandise by participating in the watch-and-win contest to be held after the event.
