Improved Mitsubishi Triton for AXCR 2025

Team Mitsubishi Ralliart will again compete in the Asia Cross Country Rally (AXCR) to be held in August 2025. With technical support from Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, the team is aiming for its first overall win in 3 years.

As before, the Triton pick-up truck will be used, entered in the modified cross-country or T1 category. Drawing on its experience in last year’s AXCR, the Triton’s engine has enhanced durability with other improvements that will help it in the longer rally this year.

Last year, the team’s driver Chayapon Yotha (Thailand) took the overall lead in Leg 4, the first day of the second half of the 6-day competition, building a lead of more than 20 minutes over the second-place driver. However, he had to retire due to engine trouble.

One of the team’s Tritons had an early lead in last year’s rally but had to reture when engine problems occurred.

The team’s trucks have new livery, embodying Team Mitsubishi Ralliart’s identity with its energetic red colour. From the front to the centre of the body sides, the vehicles are covered with a digital graphic of a sandstorm, which illustrates a cloud of dust swirled up by the vehicle. Additionally, the Ralliart logo is boldly displayed on the sides to further emphasize Mitsubishi Motors’ passion for motorsports.

“Last year, the Triton with significantly enhanced driving performance was able to hold its own against rivals with high displacement and took a large lead in first place overall on the first day of the second half. Unfortunately, it ran into trouble and had to retire. But we affirmed that the Triton has more than enough potential to win the overall championship. This year, with an even more rigorous rally in terms of both days and distance for the 30th anniversary competition, we have a vehicle with enhanced durability that can harness its fantastic potential throughout the rally as we aim for our first overall win in 3 years,” said Hiroshi Masuoka, director of Team Mitsubishi Ralliart.

AXCR is the largest cross-country rally in the ASEAN region, with its 30th edition being run in 2025. The rally will be flagged off on August 8 in Pattaya and finish in the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh on August 16. Although Malaysia was included last year, security concerns in southern Thailand required a change in the route and the rally did not end in Kuala Lumpur. As the security situation in that area remains risky, Malaysia is again not included. The driving distance has been extended by roughly 500 kms from last year to a total of around 2,500 kms.
