The good thing about cars with petrol or diesel engines (ICE, as they are referred to) is that if you should run out of fuel, you can go to a petrol station and bring back fuel to continue your journey. It can be an inconvenience but at least better than an EV where running out of ‘fuel’ could mean you are stranded. Unfortunately, technology is still not so advanced that you can recharge with a powerbank like you do with your mobilephone.
However, when you are getting the fuel, you need to observe some safety procedures at the station as petrol especially is volatile. A spark caused by static electricity can start a fire or even an explosion. And it goes without saying that smoking is not permitted near the petrol pump at all.
Shell Malaysia provides guidance on safety measures to follow when you need to carry fuel away rather than pump it into the fuel tank of your car. The guidance and warnings (shown above) are on a panel mounted near the pumps so take note of what is on it.
