Hyundai to introduce new Inster electric city SUV in Europe

While the Chinese brands seem to be sweeping across Europe with EVs priced more attractively than those from European brands, the Korean carmakers are not planning on just watching from the sidelines. Hyundai and Kia already have a range of models on offer and soon, Hyundai will add a new city EV to be called the Inster.

The Inster (the name is said to be derived from ‘intimate’ and ‘innovative’) is based on the Casper which was introduced in 2021 and sold on in Korea. While the Casper has only a petrol engine, the Inster will be fully electric and have a range claimed to be up to 355 kms.

The images Hyundai released today show the A-segment SUV to have an evolutionary design from the Casper’s. It will have signature LED daytime running lights plus pixel-graphic turn signals and tail lamps – styling elements that are now familiar on Hyundai models.

The Inster will make its global debut at the Busan International Mobility Show later this month, and is intended for overseas markets. In Korea, it will be sold as the Casper Electric. Auto Moto speculates that its price will be between around 20,000 euros and 25,000 euros (about RM101,335 – RM126,700) in France.
