Hyundai IONIQ 5 N NPX1 previews performance parts to come

Like a number of other companies these days, Hyundai Motor also has a performance sub-brand which is known as N. The brand has been in existence since 2012 and has become established in rallying as one of the teams participating.

Hyundai N also develops high-performance variants of certain models and since 2019, the company has also offered N Performance Parts to customers who want to enhance the performance of their cars.

Continuing from combustion engine vehicles, Hyundai N plans to offer specialised tuning components for all-electric N models such as the IONIQ 5 N. To give an idea of the scope of these parts, Hyundai N is displaying the IONIQ 5 N NPX1, a concept model equipped with prototype N Performance Parts, at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2024 this week.

The NPX1 concept model previews an array of N-specific enhancements that will be available for purchase from a catalogue of N Performance Parts in the near future. These include a carbonfibre  front splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser, rear wing spoiler, lightweight hybrid carbonfibre wheels, high-performance brake pads and lowering springs.

The concept model’s interior is further enhanced with Alcantara material and racing bucket seats.

The Hyundai N performance image has been promoted in motorsports like the World Rally Championship.

The prototype N Performance Parts applied to the NPX1 concept will be further developed for production in preparation for sales later in 2024. Besides the IONIQ 5 N, Hyundai N will expand the availability of N Performance Parts products for all N models.

“Not limited to tuning parts, we are also developing software customisation such as sound and vehicle calibration by OTA updates which will open a completely new category of EV customisation for an exciting future ahead for the tuning community,” added Joon Park, Vice-President of N Brand Management Group.
