Human Horizons previews HiPhi A two years before launch

You probably haven’t heard of HiPhi, a brand of EVs from China. The company which makes them -Human Horizons – has only been around for 6 years and launched its first model in 2019. HiPhi has targeted the upper end of the EV market with premium products that have been selling well (according to reports from China), and will enter some European markets next year.

To date, it has launched three models (the most recent being the HiPhi Y in April, this year) and these will be joined by another new model, the HiPhi A, which will make its public debut tomorrow at the Guangzhou Auto Show.

Unlike its other models, the HiPhi A is a collaborative product which the company developed together with WESail New Energy Automotive, a company which is engaged in technology development, transfer, consulting and services related to New Energy Vehicles. Besides HiPhi-developed battery and motor technology, the new model also benefits from technical expertise and innovation from ShanghaiTech University.

“HiPhi A will showcase extreme performance, with a 0 – 100 km/h time in just over 2 seconds and a targeted top speed of almost 300 km/h. It will be the first vehicle with HiPhi’s own in-house-developed high-performance powertrain – both battery pack and motors,” said David Ding, HiPhi Founder, Chairman & CEO.

With an 800V platform, the electric drive assembly has a front single-motor drive and rear dual-motor drive layout. The three motors adopt industry-leading ultra-high-speed carbonfibre rotor design, matched with full oil-cooling and magnetic cylinder coil direct-cooling technology, enabling ultra-high speeds of 22,000 rpm and ultra-long-time high power output of more than 30 minutes.

With advanced technology, the HiPhi A’s motors are lightweight, compact, ultra-quiet, and upgradable. Peak power is up to 1,305 ps, with electrical energy from a battery pack that is claimed to be able to discharge 1.5MW of power at its peak.

In an industry first, the innovative battery pack has a carbonfibre shield underneath it that is bullet-proof, while the top is protected by a fireproof- sprayed carbonfibre cover. HiPhi’s cloud control battery technology ensures high performance, efficiency. optimisation as well as safety.
