Honda Malaysia is recalling approximately 36,000 vehicles for a proactive product update. The affected models are the Civic (2022 – 2024), Civic Type R (2023/2024), and CR-V (2024).

The recall is to update the Electric Power Steering gearbox. The EPS gearbox worm wheel may swell and reduce grease film thickness, causing abnormal steering noise or sticky steering.

The company apologises for the inconvenience caused to owners of the affected vehicles and gives reassurance that other current production models on sale are not affected in this product update. The company believes this proactive product update is necessary as customer safety is Honda Malaysia’s top priority.

Owners of the affected vehicles will be informed via notification letters, which will include details of the product update. The owners are urged to contact any authorised Honda dealer to make an appointment upon receiving the notification, to have their vehicles inspected and/or repaired, if required.

Honda Malaysia will bear the cost of inspection, repair or replacement of the affected parts in this activity. The replacement stock will be available in stages starting from December 2024.

Should you not receive any notice (possible if you are not the original purchaser of the vehicle), you can also check if your vehicle is affected at productrecall.honda.com.my. Or you can call Honda Malaysia’s Toll-Free number at 1-800-88-2020 or visit any authorised Honda service centre.
