While some markets have the latest Honda Civic with a manual transmission, the model sold in the Japanese market has only a CVT. So the Civic RS prototype unveiled at the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon this week is of great interest to Japanese buyers as it has a 6-speed manual transmission.
The prototype on display has a stealthy black finish and some cosmetic differences. It is likely to slot in between a standard Civic and the Civic Type R so it is likely to have the 1.5-litre turbocharged engine rather than the powerful 2-litre unit of the Type R. There are likely to be some performance bits to enhance sportiness and handling.
Honda has not given much information about it as it is still under development and will go on sale in the fourth quarter of this year.
