Customers who ordered a GWM ORA 07 won’t have to wait long as GWM Malaysia has announced that the first batch of the Performance version has arrived in Port Klang from China. Following the usual Customs processes and then pre-delivery checks, the company expects to be sending the new cars to showrooms nationwide by the end of this month.
The first 500 ORA 07 owners will also get a complimentary wallbox charger so they can do most of their recharging at home. Their warranty coverage will be extended by an additional 2 years to make it a total of 8 years for the vehicle or maximum of 180,000 kms.
The 8-year/180,000-km warranty also covers the battery and electric motor-related systems. Should the battery condition deteriorate unusually to less than 70%, GWM Malaysia will replace it at no charge. Additionally, there is also a 12-year warranty against rust/corrosion on the bodywork.
Launched in April, the ORA 07 has a fastback coupe profile and like the Good Cat, there are elements of Porsche in the styling. This is not surprising since GWM has in its design team Emanuel Derta, who was formerly a designer at the German sportscar company.
The ORA 07 is available in two versions – Performance and Long Range Ultra – priced at RM189,800 and RM169,800, respectively. The differences are that the Long Range version has a single 150 kW/340 Nm motor while the Performance version has two motors (front and rear) producing a total of 300 kW/680 Nm.
The battery pack is a nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) type with a capacity of 83.5 kWh, giving a claimed range of up to 640 kms for the Long Range and 483 kms for the Performance.
Recharging time from 30% to 80% is said to be within 32 minutes when using a DC charger with 88 kW supply. With an 11 kW AC supply, the time to fully charge the battery pack will be up to 15 hours.
