GWM Malaysia to launch and deliver TANK 300 in mid-July

Previewed at the Malaysia Autoshow 2024 last month, the GWM TANK 300 will soon be delivered to the first customers in Malaysia.

According to Great Wall Motor (GWM) Malaysia, the first shipment from China has arrived at Port Klang and following the usual customs procedures and pre-delivery inspection, the company expects to have an official launch of the SUV by mid-July.

As a gesture of appreciation, GWM is offering the first 300  customers a 5-year (maximum 100,000 kms) free maintenance package.

These pioneer owners will also have a lifetime Engine & Transmission warranty with unlimited mileage for their vehicles.

“We have great confidence in our products’ quality, and we want our owners to feel equally confident, and assured about our commitment to them. Thus, we are offering an unlimited mileage lifetime warranty for the Engine & Transmission to our first 300 owners,” said Mike Cui An Qi, Managing Director of GWM Malaysia.

Though a newcomer to the Malaysian market, the TANK 300 has been on sale in China and other markets since 2020 (it was initially known as the Wey Tank 300).

It is the first GWM model to be built on the company’s TANK platform described as a ‘globalized intelligent professional off-road platform’. The model has already passed testing by the independent ANCAP organisation in Australia and awarded the maximum of 5 stars.

The TANK platform is engineered for various types of powertrains, including electrified hybrid powertrains.

For the Malaysian market, GWM Malaysia is introducing it with a 2-litre turbocharged engine with a price from RM250,000.

Over 150 orders were collected during the Malaysia Autoshow.

GWM also plans to assemble some models locally at a plant in Melaka.

The volume is set to reach  20,000 units by 2028, with the first phase having a potential annual production capacity of 30,000 vehicles.
