Grab to promote EVs to its e-hailing driver-partners

With the large fleet of vehicles used by its delivery drivers, Grab can obviously play a role in reducing carbon dioxide emissions to combat climate change, as well as support Malaysia’s Green Economy.

Collaboration with EV industry players
Taking the initiative to encourage its drivers to switch to electric vehicles, Grab is collaborating with three companies which are actively involved in the EV industry – BYD Sime Motors, Yinson GreenTech and Power-Up Tech.

“The partnership supports Malaysia’s sustainability goals and provides driver-partners with greener transport options. He emphasized that working with key industry players will accelerate EV adoption, benefiting both communities and the environment,” said Rashid Shukor, Grab Malaysia’s Director of Country Operations and Mobility.

Perodua Bezza [2020]
Grab manages a large fleet of e-hailing vehicles like the Perodua Bezza. Its initiative could help encourage many driver-partners to switch to EVs.
Each of the parties will provide services in their area of expertise, with Yinson GreenTech providing Grab with leasing packages. These will start with 10 units of the BYD M6 which was launched in Malaysia in October 2024. Yinson will also provide provide fleet management tools to assist the drivers.

Grab will thus be able to offer its driver-partners the fully electric at special rates and also support them. As distributor of BYD vehicles, BYD Sime Motors will, of course, provide the necessary aftersales support services through its extensive network of branches and dealers around the country.
