Following the country rounds of the GAZOO Racing Gran Turismo (GR GT) Cup e-motorsports event in July, the GAZOO Racing GR GT Cup Asia Finals 2024 will take place this weekend in Malaysia for the second time.
15 finalists from the country rounds – the top racers from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand – will compete this Sunday (October 13) at the Connexion Conference and Event Centre @ The Vertical in Bangsar South, Kuala Lumpur.
The state-of-the-art venue has been set up with floor-to-ceiling screens designed to maximise visibility and elevate the racing experience for both participants and spectators alike. They will compete using the popular Gran Turismo 7 for PlayStation5 and PlayStation4 racing simulators.
This year’s finalists showcase the ASEAN region’s top e-racing talent. Among them are defending top three racer Andika Rama from Indonesia, who has maintained his position over the past 2 years, and crowd favourites Taj Aiman from Malaysia and Thanaphat Pungphat from Thailand.

The top three racers from each country, having qualified through local races. The Malaysian team this year consists of Taj Aiman, Chong Kai Chang and Iqbal Suji.
They will first compete in 3 races on iconic circuits for the Regional Finals. The finals will then be held across three racetracks – Sardegna Windmills, Nürburgring GP, and Fuji Speedway – each bringing a unique mix of speed, strategy, and skill.
Through a point system, the overall champion will be determined by the total points scored. The finalists will battle for two spots at the Global Finals to be held later this year, alongside a prize pool of over US$61,000 (about RM261,780). There will also be a country award for the team which has the highest combined points score.
