A Donkervoort F22 supercar recently shattered the existing production-car record for dynamic cornering power, registering an incredible 2.3g of lateral acceleration. The record was set at the Zandvoort circuit, home of the Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix and also Dutch supercar manufacturer Donkervoort.
Record set unexpectedly
The new record was set unexpectedly while shooting a video to celebrate the first anniversary of the Dutch model’s production launch. With Donkervoort Managing Director, Denis Donkervoort, at the wheel, the F22 was pushed to its limits around the circuit and broke the record of the D8 GTO-JD70.
“Our specifications listed the dynamic lateral acceleration for the F22 as 2.15g, but we’ve confirmed it is a lot higher than that,” Donkervoort said, adding that the car for the run was unmodified and fitted with the original Nankang tyres from the factory.
“I’m very proud that the F22 took the world record for dynamic lateral acceleration from… well, from us, to keep it in the family. Its predecessor, the Donkervoort D8 GTO-JD70, peaked at 2.1g,” he said.
Lightest road-legal supercar
At 750 kgs, the F22 is the lightest road-registered, 2-seat supercar in the world – even with an innovative Twin Targa carbonfibre roof, a larger interior and a 500 bhp, 5-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine.
The F22 is Donkervoort’s first all-new car since Denis took over management of his family’s company in 2021 and is designed entirely in-houe. Due to the F22’s increased popularity, Donkervoort expanded its production to 100 units, which were almost instantly sold out.
The handbuilt F22 is priced from €245,000 (RM1.253 million) and will have a full production run of 100 units, with deliveries extending to mid-2025.
