Dewan Bandaraya KL revises compound fine discount periods

From July 1, 2024, Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) will apply a new scale for payment of fines related to traffic offences under the Road Transport Act 1987 and its regulations.

While the maximum fine for passenger cars (including taxis) is not changed, there will be shorter durations for different reductions. Since 2011, DBKL has allowed a 50% reduction of the RM100 fine only if settled within 14 days from the date of the summons issued. After that, you pay the full amount.

Payment of compound fines can be made at DBKL counters or online. The faster you pay, the less the amount will be.

Under the new scale, the rate is RM50 for payments made within the first 15 days; RM80 from the 16th to the 30th day; and RM100 from the 31st to the 60th day.

For commercial heavy vehicles, the compound rate is raised. It was RM100 during the first 14 days from the date of summons issue and RM200 after 14 days. This will be changed to RM200 if paid during the first 15 days; RM250 from the 16th to 30th days and RM300 from the 31st to 60th days.
