The new DENZA D9, a fully electric luxury MPV, certainly got off to a good start. Within just a week, some 800 orders were received for this latest challenger to the market-leading Toyota Alphard. As with some of its BYD models (DENZA is a brand in the BYD Group), there will be a special event to deliver the first batch of MPVs to the new owners.
The event is part of the ‘DENZA and BYD Electrifying Experience’ which will be held this weekend (March 14 – 16) at Plaza Arkadia in Desa ParkCity, just outside Kuala Lumpur. The event will be on from 10 am to 10 pm and is open to the public.
Test drives will, of course, be for those who want to experience the D9 first-hand. There will also be a lounge where DENZA technology will be showcased and children will also be kept entertained.
Besides the D9, the brand’s sporty Z9GT will also be in display, with a presentation every 2 hours. This model was teased during the launch of the D9 and will eventually come to Malaysia. At this time, the righthand drive version is still under final development.
Two versions of the D9 are available and priced at RM259,000 with front-wheel drive only and RM309,000 with all-wheel drive. The D9 FWD has a claimed range up to 600 kms, while the AWD version can go up to 580 kms.
