Mercedes-Benz customers in George Town, Penang now have an additional Autohaus for aftersales services. The new Autohaus is operated by Cycle & Carriage and is the 12th such facility of the company which brought the German brand to Malaysia in 1951.
Situated prominently along Jalan Sungai Pinang, the new Autohaus covers 56,282 sq. feet on a site of 90,000 sq. feet. As a Green Building certified with a Gold rating, the facility incorporates a range of eco-friendly initiatives.
These include a façade design that minimises heat penetration, renewable energy solar panels, energy-efficient air-conditioning systems, and rainwater harvesting. For EV owners, there are 180 kW DC chargers to recharge their vehicles speedily.
Uniquely, Cycle & Carriage Sungai Pinang has no ramps to its upper levels (each floor has a different department of the service centre) even though it stands 5 storeys high.
Instead, there are car lifts with redundancies and a 100% back-up power supply ensuring uninterrupted operations, even during emergencies.
The facility is the only Mercedes-Benz body and paint centre in Penang. With 21 service and repair bays, it can handle up to 550 vehicles a month.
“With a wide range of facilities and an emphasis on sustainability, we are confident that our newest Mercedes-Benz Cycle & Carriage Service Centre will set a new benchmark for automotive excellence in the region and for us to better support our customers,” said Thomas Tok, CEO of Cycle & Carriage.
