Chery Tiggo 7 PRO launched in Malaysia

Another SUV has joined the Chery range in Malaysia, this being the smaller brother of the Tiggo 8 PRO – the Tiggo 7 PRO. Priced from RM123,800 (RM119,800 for first 2,000 customers), it is assembled locally at the Inokom plant in Kedah.

The 2-row 5-seater SUV comes with a new 1.6-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine (the TIGGO 8 PRO engine is 2 litres) with output of 194 bhp/290 Nm and a 7-speed DCT (wet clutch) FWD drivetrain. The engine is claimed to consume fuel at a rate of 14.3 kms/litre.

Like the other Chery models, the equipment level is generous and includes a panoramic sunroof, Wireless Apple Carplay/Android Auto, 50W wireless charger and premium Sony 8-speaker audio system.

A notable feature in the cabin is the 24.6-inch wide display. This is the Integrated Dual Screen made up of two displays panels extending from the central infotainment screen to the instrument panel ahead of the driver.

There is also ambient lighting with a palette of up to 64 colours that can be chosen to suit any mood. Ventilated sports seats are standard for front occupants.

The overall body length of 4513 mm, width of 1862 mm and height of 1696 mmm with a 2670 mm wheelbase, allows for a boot volume of up to 1,672 litres. When the rear seats are in use, the available volume is 475 litres which is still enough for daily requirements such as groceries.  Incidentally, the tailgate is also powered for extra convenience.

The Tiggo 7 PRO comes with the latest generation Advanced Driver Assistance System 2.5 with 16 active systems to help not only the driver but also ensure the safety of the occupants. For the latter, there is a Door-Opening Warning that alerts the occupants of an approaching vehicle or cyclist from behind as they open the door to get out.

The Rear Cross Traffic monitoring system is also enhanced with a braking capability to stop the vehicle when there is another vehicle approaching from either side while reversing out. This will activate in the event the driver does not take note of the warning to stop the vehicle’s movement.

Available with 4 colours choices – Carbon Black, Platinum Grey, Nasdaq Silver and Khaki White (with Black Roof) – the Tiggo 7 PRO comes with a 7-year/150,000 kms, along with free of labour service for the first 5 years of ownership. For peace of mind, Chery Malaysia also includes free towing service for the first 7 years.
