Chery Malaysia previews TIGGO 7 PRO, priced under RM130,000

Chery, the top passenger vehicle exporter in China, has added another model to its range for the Malaysian market. This is the smaller TIGGO 7 PRO  which complements the TIGGO 8 PRO that was launched last year, followed by the OMODA 5 and OMODA E5 EV.

For small families, young adults

Initially, the model is coming from China in CBU form but Chery Malaysia will have it assembled locally (at the Inokom plant in Kedah) from mid-2024.

1.6-litre turbocharged engine
The 2-row 5-seater SUV will be offered in only one version, with a new 1.6-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine (the TIGGO 8 PRO engine is 2 litres) with output of 197 bhp/290 Nm and a 7-speed DCT (wet clutch) FWD drivetrain.

Generous equipment level
Like the other Chery models, the equipment level is generous and includes a panoramic sunroof, Wireless Apple Carplay/Android Auto, 50W wireless charger and premium Sony 8-speaker audio system. Ventilated sports seats are standard for front occupants.

We understand that the locally-assembled version will have similar equipment and features, including the expansive sunroof.

The ADAS 2.5 has 16 systems to help the driver be aware of potential dangers and also help avoid them.

First deliveries from May
Priced from under RM130,000 (without insurance), the TIGGO 7 PRO can be booked from today, viewed at showrooms from April, and first deliveries will be in May.

One more model to come
Incidentally, the new TIGGO 7 PRO isn’t the only new model in the Chery range for 2024. As announced earlier in the year, there is another model to be launched during the year. It is still a secret but is said to be a small model and will be at a ‘more affordable price’ level. It will be promoted as ‘My First Chery‘ to bring Malaysians into the Chery family. The OMODA 5 is priced at around RM109,000 so expect the new model to be less than that (it won’t be an EV).
