Capabilities of Bridgestone POTENZA Sport demonstrated at Sepang track

Bridgestone Tyre Sales Malaysia introduced the flagship POTENZA Sport tyre in November 2021 and while it has been well received in the local market, the superior capabilities of the tyre have been difficult to experience in everyday driving for most people.

In order to let people see how well the tyre performs, the company recently had a Bridgestone POTENZA Sport Driving Experience event at the Sepang International Circuit. With the controlled wet and dry conditions and one-way traffic, it was possible to push the tyres to their limits safely and they certainly showed how good they are.

Characteristics for high-performance driver
The POTENZA Sport excels in cornering and straight-line grip which are, of course, vital for the high-performance driver. This is achieved with new and innovative technologies in tread pattern design, compound and construction developed by Bridgestone.

The tyre has increased shear stiffness on its tread pattern for improved and enhanced braking and abrasion resistance. An optimized compound formula with an innovative mixing technology also helps to improves handling on wet and dry surfaces.

The new hybrid crown specially developed for the POTENZA Sport maximizes stability at high speeds, while quickening steering response and maintains rolling resistance with an optimum balance.

Virtual development process
During the tyre’s development stages, virtual development technology played a critical role in enabling Bridgestone engineers accurately predict its performance without having to physically produce tyres for testing. This not only meant better environment-friendliness as less resources were used but also speeded up the testing processes, allowing Bridgestone to bring the new product to the market faster.

The POTENZA Sport’s superior performance and capabilities have been recognised by carmakers like Maserati, Lamborghini and BMW which fit it as original equipment on their cars. It is available in many sizes from 18 to 22 inches, ranging from 45-series to 30-series.
