Among the newcomers in the market in the past two years, BYD has been selling the largest number of EVs (according to JPJ statistics) so its customer base has been growing rapidly. With more people owning a BYD, the need for aftersales support becomes increasingly important. Selling a new car is just the start of a relationship and it’s the aim of every car company to retain customers for as long as possible.
Ensuring that the ownership experience is a good one helps keep customers and Sime Motors, as the official distributor of BYD vehicles, has been working to build up its aftersales network from day one, with 21 service centres since the beginning of 2023.
Nationwide service network
While the initial service centres were in the Klang Valley (which has the largest number of vehicle sales), the widening network of charging stations has made it possible for people in other parts of the country to also own and use an EV. Thus, the service centre network covers key areas such as Penang, the Klang Valley, Johor Bahru, East Coast, and also the East Malaysian states of Sarawak and Sabah.
The service centres provide a full range of services, with 17 also having facilities to paint and repair damaged vehicles. All of them have technicians certified to maintain EVs and all the required tools and diagnostic equipment.
Save money with Service Packages
Service Packages tailored to suit varying customer needs are available with 3, 6 and 8-year options for the different models. These comprehensive packages come in Standard and Plus tiers to accommodate the different usage patterns of customers. They can be purchased separately or bundled with the H-P loan and can save money in the long-term as the costs are already ‘locked in’.
Parts supply assured
Professional care for the vehicles is not the only thing that is important in aftersales services; just as important is the availability of parts when they are needed. To ensure this, a Centralised Parts Distribution Centre has been established.
This hub is digitally-managed to optimise inventory and ensure timely parts delivery to service centres and dealers nationwide. With streamlined distribution and efficient logistics, BYD guarantees minimal downtime for vehicle repairs.
Pre-Delivery Inspection Centre
The new vehicles are built to very high quality standards at the factories in China and to ensure customers get their vehicles with the same high quality, they are first inspected at an advanced facility in Malaysia. Each vehicle will be subjected to rigorous quality assurance checks before being delivered to customers.
Comprehensive Warranty, 24/7 Roadside Assistance
For peace of mind, Sime Motors offers customer support services and extensive warranty packages. New vehicles come with a warranty of 6 years or maximum of 150,000 kms, and the battery pack and drive units have separate warranties of up to 8 years or 160,000 kms (150,000 kms for the drive unit).
Besides the BYD Customer Care line which operates from Mondays to Fridays, there is also BYD Roadside Assistance across Malaysia which is a 24/7 support service.
