The BYD ATTO 3 arrived in Malaysia in December 2022 and since then, has contributed to the brand being the most popular in the EV segment in 2023. As with other carmakers, BYD too keeps improving and enhancing its products and the 2024 version, priced at RM149,800 (excluding insurance), is now available with updates inside and outside.
Only Standard Range available
However, where customers could choose from two variants before, there is now only one. The Extended Range version with a 60.48 kWh Blade battery pack is no longer offered. This means the only ATTO 3 is the one with the Standard Range battery pack having a capacity of 49.92 kWh. This has a claimed range of 410 kms, 70 kms less than what the Extended Range version could do. No technical changes are mentioned for the latest version.
New body colour
Besides the addition of Cosmos Black as a new body colour (making for a total of 4 colour choices), there is a sleek black fin at the rearmost roof pillar in place of the white fin. You can also spot the latest version of the ATTO 3 from behind as there is now the brand logo rather than the ‘BUILD YOUR DREAMS’ slogan across the rear door.
Although the slogan has been used by BYD for many years in China, feedback from customers outside the country indicated that it was not appreciated. It might be okay as a line on a sticker on the glass but a logo is what people prefer, so BYD has switched to that.
Additional interior colour theme
As for the Intelligent Cabin, there is a new Black+Dark Blue theme as an alternative to the existing Dark Blue+Light Grey theme for upholstery and trim. Customers cannot specify which one they want as each interior theme is matched to specific exterior colours. Those who choose the new body or Boulder Grey can have only the Black+Dark Blue theme while the other theme is for exterior colours of Ski White or Surf Blue.
The 2024 ATTO 3 continues with a comprehensive list of features and includes a wireless charging pad and a multi-colour ambient lighting system. The centre touchscreen has been increased to 15.6 inches from 12.8 inches and can be rotated between portrait and landscape mode. The infotainment system is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for ease of connectivity with smartphones.
Up to 8 years warranty for battery
Warranty coverage is 6 years/150,000 kms for the vehicle, 8 years/160,000 kms for the battery and 8 years/150,000 kms for the drive unit. Customers can also include Service Standard and Service Plus packages with their vehicle purchase.
The Service Plus package now includes additional services such as tyre rotation, alignment, and balancing, along with annual 12V battery replacement in addition to the existing offerings. Having these packages can save money in the long run as they ‘lock in’ the rates which could change over time.
