BRABUS develops new 600 model from the Range Rover

BRABUS, the specialist tuning and customisation company located in west central Germany, is well known for its improved and performance-enhanced vehicles. Much of its product range since starting business in 1977 has been adapted from Mercedes-Benz, Maybach and smart models.

However, the company also does work on models from some other brands, and the latest is the BRABUS 600 which is based on the current Range Rover. Unveiled to the world under the California sun at the annual Pebble Beach Concours d‘Elegance this week, the BRABUS 600 is customized visually with an aerodynamic-enhancement range characterized by sporty and elegant styling.

The BRABUS design team’s decades of experience employed 3D scanning and CAD technology to develop aerodynamic-enhancement components that have a superior fit and flawless surface quality. All components are made from carbonfibre or PUR in quality similar to that demanded by carmakers.

The front end of the SUV has an exclusively design bumper in place of the original one. Its newly designed air intake layout gives the front of the Range Rover an even more distinctive look.

Exposed carbonfibre elements are optionally available. They frame the large side air intakes and also add a sporty touch in the large central air intake. The centrally positioned front spoiler attaches to the bottom of the fascia and adds a further sporty highlight while also reducing front-axle lift at high speeds.

The rear appearance is redefined with the BRABUS rear fascia extension. It harmoniously integrates the four BRABUS carbonfibre-titanium tailpipe embellishers, which are mated to the production exhaust system.

In addition, the central rear diffuser together with the rear spoiler and the extensions on both sides of the fascia give the Range Rover sportier looks.

Besides the brand’s own Monoblock ZV PLATINUM EDITION hi-tech forged wheels with a king-sized diameter of 24 inches (or 23 inches). Produced using cutting-edge forging and CNC machining technology, the wheels are tough enough to withstand the high wheel loads generated by the luxury all-wheel drive vehicle.

BRABUS engineers chose SportContact 6 tyres from technology partner Continental for this vehicle. The sizes on both axles are 295/35 ZR 24 or 23.

The BRABUS SportXtra module is specifically tuned to the sporty street tyres. It modifies the control of the original air suspension and lowers the ride height by about 20 mm. The lower centre of gravity results in even more agile handling without impairing the ride quality. At the same time, this measure optimizes the vehicle’s active safety.

With the BRABUS PowerXtra 600 performance upgrade, the output of the turbocharged 8-cylinder engine is raised by 68 bhp. This has been achieved with the plug-and-play BRABUS module wired into the electronic engine control unit of the SUV.

It introduces new maps for injection and ignition and also increases the boost pressure. These measures boost peak power from 523 to 591 bhp at a low 6,000 rpm. Peak torque grows simultaneously from 850 to 900 Nm.

As with all its models, BRABUS also gives the interior exclusive refinement. Customers then specify their personal requirements for interior appointments which the company’s upholstery shop creates.

Even the most extravagant customer requests can be fulfilled in virtually any conceivable colour and in every minute detail. To this end, the master upholsterers draw upon particularly soft, breathable and highly durable leather. Dinamica microfibre can be used in the interior as an option.
