Continuing on the electrification of its model range, BMW Malaysia has added two variants of the BMW i4 eDrive35 – the i4 eDrive35 and the i4 eDrive35 M Sport.
Like the i4 M50 launched earlier this year, the i4 eDrive35 has a 4-door Gran Coupe bodystyle which maintains BMW cues while also showing progressiveness towards new design language for the electric era.
Energy efficient 0.24 shape
The shape, refined in a wind tunnel, is energy efficient with its low coefficient of drag of 0.24 Cd, vital for an electric car.
The familiar kidney grille design with horizontal slats is flanked by sleek LED headlights. Unique to i4 eDrive35 variant is a sleek aluminium satin lining along its sides to enhance the dynamic and sporty appearance.
Both variants ride on 18-inch alloy wheels, with the M Sport variant having an aerodynamic design.
Within the 4783 mm long and 1852 mm wide body is boot volume that is 1,290 litres at maximum capacity.
The cockpit has the latest BMW iDrive infotainment system running on BMW Operating System 8, as well as the BMW Curved Display. The open and luxurious interior ambience is enhanced by premium materials and thoughtful design.
Specific to the i4 eDrive35 is oak grain open-pored fine-wood trim and a sport leather steering wheel. For the M Sport, the trim provided is the refined Aluminium Rhombicle Anthracite M.
210 kW/400 Nm to rear wheels
The i4 eDrive35 has a single motor to drive the rear wheels. The motor generates 210 kW (286 ps)/400 Nm which can propel the car from 0 to 100 km/h in a claimed 6 seconds. Travelling range with a fully charged battery pack is up to 430 kms.
The motor gets its energy from a 66 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that can be charged at up to 180 kW with 400V architecture. With a DC fast-charger, the battery can be filled from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes. Using AC charging (up to 11 kW), the time from 0% to 100% is said to be about 7.25 hrs.
Over 1,000 charging points available
Owners of the i4 eDrive 35 (as well as other electrified models) have access to a growing network of charging facilities around the peninsular. The network, currently with over 1,000 charging points, has been established in partnership with major service providers.
The retail price (without insurance) is RM258,210 for the i4 eDrive 35 and RM284,210 for the M Sport variant. If a customer includes the Extended Warranty & Service Package (BSRI), the price will be RM273,800 and RM299,800, respectively.
Those who take financing from BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia can own the i4 eDrive35 with a monthly instalment plan starting from RM3,358, and the i4 eDrive35 M Sport from RM3,657 (terms and conditions applicable).
