The return of the MINIfest was certainly much welcome by those who are ‘MINIacs’ in Malaysia. The last time the event was held was in September 2019, when the 60th anniversary of the iconic little car was celebrated.
As in the past, MINIfest 2023 was more than just a gathering of MINI owners. Under the theme of ‘Big Love, Big Fun’, the event offered a diverse range of activities and entertainment with a festival atmosphere.
MINI Garage
In addition, there was also a historic display of models at the MINI Garage to show the history of the little car and its evolution through history. Needless to say, there were also test-drives of the latest models available, including the MINI Electric.
Over 2,300 MINIacs were at the MINIfest which was held at the Sentul Depot in Kuala Lumpur recently. Besides MINI-related activities and displays, there was also live entertainment and a wide array of creative and sustainably-made retail options.
Workshops for mini MINIacs
For families with mini MINIacs, there were two workshops (not the type for servicing cars) specially for children. They were able to construct a remarkable Battery-Powered MINI from scratch, as well as use their creative prowess to design personalised MINI keychains or jewellery from scratch.
Adrenaline lovers had their thrills with activities like the MINI Slingshot where they were catapulted into the air for a bird’s eye view of the event. The less adventurous browsed through the offerings at the MINI Car Boot Sale as a diverse range of brand partners and local vendors offered a wide array of funky arts and crafts, trendy fashion items and unique recreational accessories.
There was also a MINI merchandise booth where owners and lovers of the brand and car could find a wide range of exclusive MINI-branded items as well as a customisation station that allowed them to personalize their gear.
Sneak preview
The visitors also had an opportunity to witness the creation of mural art live in action. This was a sneak preview of an artist’s collaboration with MINI for the upcoming RoofArt Special Edition on the Countryman.
Throughout the day, visitors had opportunities to win prizes curated by MINI and its partners, through a series of lucky draws.
Celebrating the unique essence of the brand
“We are thrilled that MINIfest 2023 was able to once again bring together MINIacs from all walks of life to celebrate the unique essence of the MINI brand. The theme of ‘Big Love, Big Fun’ truly embodies this event as well as what MINI stands for – a vibrant community of passionate individuals who share the same adventurous spirit,” said Linnet Yew, Head of MINI Malaysia.
She added that Malaysia was the fastest growing MINI market globally in 2022 and during the first six months of this year, 1,057 units have already been sold. “This is highest ever in a 6-month span for the brand in Malaysia,” said Ms Yew.
