Bermaz Auto Alliance ceases to handle Peugeot after today

Bermaz Auto Alliance Sdn Bhd (BAASB), which took over the distribution, sales and aftersales of Peugeot vehicles from Naza in 2020, will no longer be associated with the French brand after today (February 29). This means that it will not be selling the vehicles and will not provide aftersales services to owners.

However, Peugeot owners and those interested in the brand need not worry as Stellantis Malaysia has set up its National Sales Company to take over all activities related to Peugeot (as well as other brands in the Stellantis Group that may come to Malaysia). This includes DS Automobiles and Citroen, for which BAASB had been appointed as authorised repairer since 2020.

PEUGEOT 3008 AND 5008 [2021]
BAASB took over management of the Peugeot brand at short notice in 2020 and despite the challenges of the pandemic, maintained support for owners while introducing new products.
Free Service Maintenance responsibility of Stellantis
BAASB said that the contractual Free Service Maintenance (FSM) program is transferred to Stellantis in totality and as such, all future FSM will be carried out through the  Stellantis-appointed network (to be announced).

So from tomorrow onwards, if you are a Peugeot owner, change the number in your Contacts list to 1800-18-STLA (7852). This is the number of the Stellantis Malaysia call centre which you should contact if you need aftersales support.

Sixth change
This would be the sixth time that handling of the Peugeot brand has changed companies since Asia Motors began selling the French cars in the 1960s. After Asia Motors gave up the franchise in the mid-1980s, it was handled by Ibis for a short while before MBf Automobile took it over during the decade of the 1990s. Then it moved on the Cycle & Carriage in 2002 and again the distributor again changed in 2008 to the Naza Group (through Nasim). Naza handled Peugeot from 2008 until 2020 when it suddenly decided to end the business and BAASB took over.

Asia Motor Mazda Peugeot advertisement
Asia Motors was the first Peugeot distributor in Malaysia, having handled the French brand from the 1960s. This advertisement in the 1970s shows the range of Peugeot models it offered, as well as Mazda models which it also sold.
