Art of Speed Malaysia returns on July 27 and 28 at MAEPS

Art of Speed Malaysia began in 2012 at the Publika shopping complex in Kuala Lumpur featuring customised cars and motorcycles, in contrast to the usual motorshows of new models. It was a small but lively event and attracted enough interest that the organisers were encouraged to run it again the following year… and the year after… up till today.

Early years of the Art of Speed events.

In 2024, the 13th Art of Speed Malaysia (there were no events for 2 years during the pandemic) has become Malaysia’s biggest annual Kustom & Counter Culture event. It is an event recognised not just locally but also in the international custom community.

Staying true to original ambition
“We are blessed to have been able to host Art of Speed Malaysia for 13 years, not only for realizing a dream but also to stay true to the original ambition of an event that gathers fans and enthusiasts under one roof to celebrate everything related to art, lifestyle, culture and motoring,” said Asep Ahmad Iskandar, Festival Director, Art of Speed Malaysia, and the driving force behind it all these years.

“We have been crafting our events based on the right ‘pillars’ to follow, and that includes a safe, comfortable and inclusive space, content for all human senses, affordable aspirations, brotherhood, and always celebrating the good times. To sum it up, Art of Speed is for everyone; always has been and always will be. Thank you for joining us again in 2024 and let the good times roll!” he said.

Art of Speed 2024

This year, the event (AOS 2024) will be held on July 27 and 28, again at the spacious Malaysia Agro Exposition Park, Serdang (MAEPS) outside Kuala Lumpur. As with the 2023 event, all the halls are filled with exhibitors and besides a wide variety of customised vehicles, there will also be lots of activities for all ages over the weekend.

Stop The Violence campaign
Of note is Art of Speed Malaysia’s collaboration with Selangor FC (SFC) in support of the football club’s on-going campaign “Stop The Violence”. This campaign, initiated after their player, Faisal Halim, suffered serious injuries in an acid attack on May 5. AOS 2024 aims to promote more awareness of the campaign and also avoid violent acts from starting in the automotive scene. The message from AOS 2024 is: Love no hate; Solidarity without borders.

Drift action too
AOS 2024 is not only all static displays as Daigo Saito, a professional drift driver in the D1 Grand Prix series and Formula Drift series, will also be coming. He founded his own shop called Fat Five Racing, where he has built plenty of outrageous drift cars throughout the years. Other activities
AOS 2024 will continue The Outdoor ThunderCircus ‘Brotherhood Rally’ with a fully dedicated open area for motorcycle riders and enthusiasts, attracting a gathering of various motorcycle makers and brand communities. Art of Speed Off The Grid 2024

From becoming a staple content of AOS, Off The Grid has become its own standalone. An indoor environment with air-conditioning means the entire family can enjoy the ‘outdoor lifestyle’ without burning out from the sun (and it can be pretty hot these days). There will be plenty of exhibits along with local and international brands to look forward to.

Christopher Ng from Motoqar will be this year’s host for the Kustom & Koffee Talk which will be held on Saturday. He will be with panelists from overseas and the forum will discuss the latest trends in the bike and car industries.
