Among the many new products at the Malaysia Commercial Vehicle Expo 2024 are 3 new trucks launched by Angka-Tan Motor Sdn Bhd (ATM) which is the sole distributor of Foton Light Commercial Vehicles, Foton Auman and JMC vehicles.
ATM, a subsidiary of Warisan TC Holdings Bhd is committed to fulfilling its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals in line with the national shift towards green mobility targeting zero emissions by 2050.
Foton eAumark electric truck
It is therefore timely that the company is introducing the 2024 Foton eAumark, the first fully electric light-duty truck to be officially retailed in Malaysia. Powering the eAumark is electric motor that develops 115 kW and over 900Nm of torque. The claimed range of the eAumark is up to 200 kms with the 81.14 kWh iron-phosphate battery from CATL, a world leader in energy storage devices. It also supplies 10 kW of power to an ePTO port for external equipment.
The electric powertrain is engineered to withstand extreme weather conditions, including Malaysia’s tropical climate with a lot of rain and, lately, very high temperatures. The battery pack is certified for IP67 water and dust resistance and has high temperature resistance with a 600°C ignition point.
Every eAumark comes with a complimentary 22 kW AC Wallbox Charger, allowing for the truck to be kept fully charged when off-duty. In addition to the AC Charger, owners can use DC charging facilities that are growing in numbers throughout Malaysia. Recharging from 20% to 100% is said to take 1 hour with a DC charger.
The eAumark retails for an introductory price of RM238,000. It is backed by a factory warranty covering the cabin and chassis for up to 3 years or maximum of 100,000 kms. As with electrified passenger vehicles, the drive motor, 81.14 kWh battery and controller are covered by a separate warranty of 5 years or maximum of 200,000 kms.
“The global transport sector is currently defined by its paradigm shift towards e-mobility. There is no reason why this transition should be limited to passenger vehicles, given the larger impact businesses have over our national carbon footprint,” said Tan Keng Meng, CEO of Warisan TC Holdings (a member of the Tan Chong Group).
“ATM has enjoyed a long and industrious working relationship with Foton, and we have utmost trust in their new energy expertise, which is the direct result of over 20 years of R&D experience. We believe the pure-electric Foton eAumark has every potential to redefine the light-duty truck sector in Malaysia while aiding local businesses towards their sustainability objectives in the process,” he said.
Aumark S Euro 4
Also launched by ATM at the MCVE 2024 today is the Aumark S Euro 4 with cleaner emission outputs to comply with the Euro 4 emission standards mandated by the Malaysian government. Available in 4-wheel and 6-wheel configurations, the Aumark S BJ1065 Euro 4 come with a Cummins ISF 2.8-litre engine or 3.8-litre engine. Both powertrains have been updated to meet Euro 4 and B20 biodiesel compatibility for improved operational efficiency.
Additional JMC Vigus Pro variant
Joining the eAumark and Aumark S Euro 4 is a new offering in the light pick-up truck segment under the JMC brand. This is the latest Euro 4 JMC Vigus Pro White Series 4×2, a new variant in Vigus Pro product range marketed by ATM. Of the three variants on offer, the new Vigus Pro White Series 4×2 is the sole variant equipped with a 4×2 Drive System, making it an ideal urban workhorse for start-ups and SMEs.
Like all variants across the JMC Vigus Pro catalogue, the White Series 4×2 is powered by a 2-litre Puma 4-cylinder turbodiesel engine (originally developed by Ford) which is paired to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission.
