Millennium Welt, an authorised dealership for the BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad brands in Malaysia, has joined forces with Gentari Malaysia to set up the first EV Charging Flagship Store. Located along Jalan Kuching in Kuala Lumpur, the new outlet is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
EV displays as well
Besides having a charging station, the EV Charging Flagship Store will also have an extensive display area capable of featuring 66 EV models. Other services available will include a dedicated BMW Premium Selection showroom and insurance renewal.
Powered by clean energy
The charging station will have 6 units of 240 kW DC fast-chargers and 2 units of 22 kW AC chargers. The store is planned to be powered completely by renewable energy sources so it will be using truly clean energy.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the outlet recently, Jean-Phillipe Parain, Senior Vice President of the Sales Region in Asia-Pacific, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa said: “The Millennium Welt and Gentari’s EV Charging Flagship Store would be amongst the first-of-its-kind experience concept for electric vehicles in Southeast Asia. Based on the concept of an EV charging store, the facility enables the charging of multiple vehicles at a single time with a specialised store representing the brands from the BMW Group. The facility demonstrates the Retail.Next appearance as well as services which is developed to complement the future mobility capabilities of our new products and offerings.”
BMW Group Malaysia also been among the more active car companies in helping to build the EV charging network. Since 2022, it has established over 1,000 charging points around Peninsular Malaysia for its BMW and MINI customers.
Besides over 100 charging points at BMW and MINI dealerships, owners also have access to hundreds of facilities through partnerships with service providers.
